PJ Glassey - Co-Owner

Education and Certifications: B.S. in Exercise Science, (1989) Seattle Pacific University; CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), 1996 NSCA; CPR; AED: First Aid.

Experience: PJ started personal training in 1987 and ran his own in-home personal training business for 11 years. With these clients' help as test subjects, PJ invented the X Gym's current multi-protocol concept in 1989 and refined it through 1998 when he formally introduced it to the X Gym. 

PJ still spends hours each week studying the current research to further improve the X Gym methods. He also host a fitness blog at www.pjfit.com and has authored many works including local and national media articles and two books on health and fitness including his latest book, "Cracking Your Calorie Code".

 

Sharmon Herber - Co-Owner

Education and Certifications: B.S. in Exercise Science, (1990) Washington State University; Certified Health/Fitness Instructor, 1993 ACSM; CPR; First Aid.

Experience: Sharmon has been in the health and fitness field since 1981 as an aerobics instructor, and then soon after as a Water Safety Instructor/Lifeguard. She started personal training in 1990 and has worked at numerous clubs, including the nationally renowned Bellevue Club before starting the X Gym with PJ in 1998. Sharmon also worked over the  years for several doctors as a Medical Assistant/Technician and Phlebotomist.

Jesse "Shadow King" - Kirkland club manager

Education and Certifications: B.A; Triple certified personal trainer with NASM, ISSA and IFPA; CPR. 

Experience: Jesse has been a personal trainer since 1997.  His inquisitive nature has expanded his knowledge base through the latest research of the past decade.  He applies everything he learns to his own fitness then shares this knowledge with his clients as he trains their bodies and minds.  His interpersonal communication skill augments his training since educating and connecting with the client is half the battle.  “Every client is an individual.  You can’t take a magazine article and apply it to everyone nor can you just train someone the same way the biggest guy in the gym trains”.

Scott "Ironman" - Belltown trainer

Education and Certifications: B.S. Exercise Science (2008); CPR

Experience: Scott had to step down temporarily from professional triathlon competitions to compete at the college level until he graduates from SPU. Scott is now training for nationals as well as the 2012 Olympic team. Scott qualified to compete in the 2008 nationals, where he earned a national ranking and the title of "All American." Kourtney "Snowbird" - Alki Manager

Education and Certifications: B.S. Exercise Science; CPR; First Aid.

Experience: Kourtney sneaks up on clients and gets them to levels of fatigue they have never experienced before they know what hit them with her sweet and gentle demeanor. As a competitive snowboarder, Kourtney knows what it feels like to push the limits and can take her clients there through personal empathy. Oh yeah, and she is also the 2008 overall women's champion at the Columbia tower stair climb, beating all other 1,111 women and over 1,400 men!

Evan "Pyro" - Belltown trainer

Education and Certifications: B.S. Exercise Science, Seattle Pacific University; First Aid; CPR.

Experience: Even has been a personal trainer since he received his degree in Exercise Science back in 2004. Evan also has a background in biomedical research so our new and unique research based methods are readily adopted by him. Evan is currently working on his firefighting training as well.

Sarah Fatale - Belltown trainer             

Education and Certifications: Ashmead College for Fitness Training; Certified Spinning instructor; TRX trainer; CPR; AED

Experience: Sarah started at the X Gym as a client, and through the workouts, found her passion in fitness and became an X Gym personal trainer. She is also a figure competitor (pictured left) and is now training for her next goal of completing a half Ironman triathlon.

Ben "Roughouse" - Belltown trainer

Education and Certifications: Currently studying for his B.S. degree in Exercise Science with a nutrition minor; CPR

Experience: Ben was recruited out of high school to play for the nations top soccer team at SPU. He has recently taken up triathlon training and already took 1st and 2nd in his first two contests! Ben currently has his sights set on the 2012 Olympics where he hopes to be able to choose between triathlon and soccer.

Mike "Ice Man" - Belltown and Alki trainer 

Education and Certifications: B.S. Exercise Science; First Aid: CPR

Experience: Mike worked as a personal trainer in numerous different facilities before settling full time at the X Gym. He truly practices what he preaches with fitness and nutrition. He is the current USATF regional club champion in the 800 meter run and is training for the 2012 Olympics. His main food staples are broccoli and grass fed beef! 

Danielle "Moon Dancer" - Belltown and Alki trainer

Education and Certifications: B.S. Kinesiology, CPR, First Aid

Experience: Danielle is a nationally ranked heptathlete currently working toward a spot on the 2008 Olympic team. Her dedication to training and fitness bleeds over into her training of X Gym clients to make her on of the toughest and most effective trainers we have.

Mark Weapon X” - Belltown and Alki trainer

Education and Certifications: B.S. Biology; CPR

Experience: Mark recently graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and an emphasis in Human Physiology. Marl's background knowledge is in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Human Nutrition, so his understanding of how to get clients to fatigue spans beyond just intuition!

Steve "Havok" - Belltown and Alki trainer

Experience: Steve has always had an avid interest in sports, fitness and physical culture.  He competed in a number of different sports growing up, primarily Wrestling and Rowing. Steve now competes in the Irish sport of Hurling for the Seattle Gaels. Steve began his career as a personal trainer in 2006 at Gold’s Gym and then LA Fitness. He came to the X GYM in 2007 and was drawn to its “results first” mentality. Steve had also summitted Mt. Rainier on two occasions as well as several other peaks in the Cascades. Steve enjoys reading the latest research in the health and fitness field, and styles his training with a meticulous and scientific approach, focusing the client on perfect form and proper muscle activation.

Jenn  "Marvel Girl" Belltown trainer       

Education and Certifications: B.S. exercise science (nutrition minor), Frappier Acceleration certified, CPR, First Aid.

Experience: Jenn has participated in track and field for 15 years with a focus on middle distance events. Jenn is a nationally ranked 800 meter runner and competed on the Seattle Pacific University track team. She now competes in all different types of events, and coaches track and cross country. Jenn was mere seconds behind Kourtney (above) in the 2008 Columbia stair climb, taking 3rd place overall (out of 1,111 women). Jenn more recently took first place in the 2008 Fall City 5k, beating hundreds of other women racers. She beat most of the men too - only 12 were faster!

Kailyn - "Thor" Belltown club manager

Experience: The former fat kid from Kansas turned West Coast college athlete, inspired by the desire to better himself and others, Kailyn turned from doing to teaching.  His background is in medicine;  spanning such fields as biochemistry, microbiology, nursing, and finally fitness and nutrition.  Looking to constantly better himself and his clients, Kailyn is always in school studying everything and anything he can get his hands on.  Kailyn has been training for over 10 years, joined the X-Gym team in 2007, and is a true believer in the program. " My goal is to get every client to understand that if you put in the work, you will see the results".

Education and Certifications: B.S., SPU, First Aid, CPR, AED

Experience: Fresh out of college with a degree from SPU, Joe is constantly looking for the next big thing when it comes to pushing his body to the limit.  He feels like he struck gold at the X Gym and appreciates the Gym's ability to push people to their physical limits while maintaining their utmost safety.  He enjoys the X Gym's results-oriented focus as well as that it appeals to people with all sorts of fitness goals.  Joe's unique interpersonal skills combined with years of hard work in the gym make him a valuable asset to the X Gym team.  He is currently training to compete in triathlons in the Seattle area before he sets his sights on Mixed Martial Arts.
